The state recently confirmed its first measles case of 2025, which is in Meade County. Health officials say the infected person visited public places in Sturgis and Rapid City late last month. With hundreds of thousands set to visit Sturgis in August, state epidemiologist Dr. Joshua Clayton says any large event brings the risk of measles spreading. He urges people to check their vaccination status now, especially those planning to attend the rally.
