LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A 14-year-old boy is dead and a 15-year-old boy is in the hospital after firefighters say they touched a downed power line in Leslie Tuesday evening.
Leslie Police Chief Evan Bennehoff said that the two boys were walking along a trail when the 14-year-old touched a downed power line with a metal pole and was electrocuted. The 15-year-old tried to help the other boy and was shocked when he grabbed on, Bennehoff said.
First responders attempted to save the 14-year-old boy's life, but he died at the scene. Police said the 15-year-old suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening and was taken to the hospital.
At least three fire engines were on scene, with firefighters saying they were there to ensure the downed line didn't cause a larger fire. • 1 c
