DAVENPORT, Iowa — Sen. Joni Ernst's (R-Iowa) town hall in Butler County is now in the national spotlight.

During the event, the senator was met with shouts and groans when she said “we all are going to die” as she addressed potential changes to Medicaid eligibility .

Her statement received boos from the crowd in Butler County, and was brought up at the Republican Party of Iowa's annual event in Davenport Friday night.

When talking about the media response to the comments, Republican Party of Iowa Chairman Jeff Kaufmann said, "in the context of not a Republican, but a Ph.D. with a brain, we support you 1,000%."
