An area of rain will be shifting into southeast and south-central Lower Michigan this afternoon. The hot temperatures and high humidity in front of the rain will allow thunderstorms to emerge in the rain area.
The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) says the thunderstorms could reach severe levels after 3 p.m. and into the evening hours. This isn’t expected to be a widespread significant severe weather event. That doesn’t matter. If you are the area hit by even an isolated severe storm, the severe weather feels widespread.
