(CNN) – A convenience store owner in Thailand was caught off guard Monday by a wild elephant.
The large animal was caught on camera walking right up to the shop.
It used its trunk to move a freezer and helped itself to some sweet treats.
The store owner said it’s not unusual to see the elephant pass right by the shop, but that it had never approached the store like this before.
Park rangers were called and eventually coaxed the elephant away, but not before it ate several bags of dried bananas and peanut snacks.
Elephants are Thailand’s national animal, but their wild population has declined in recent decades due to threats from tourism, logging, poaching and human encroachment on their habitats.
