NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH, Mass. (WLNE) — Voters in North Attleborough have voted “yes” on a tax hike to build a new high school.
According to the unofficial results from the city, nearly 62-percent of voters said yes.
That’s out of more than 6,400 people who cast a ballot.
Funds from the new tax hike will help the town repay the money borrowed for the school’s construction.
The construction of the new school will cost approximately $290 million.
A property owner of an average priced home, which is approximately $596,854, would pay $1o14 extra.
A city spokesperson said that next, officials will put the borrowed money together, then the construction schedule needs to be approved.
