DUNGENESS, Wash. — The body of Ty Coone was recovered from the water near Dungeness Spit, near where he went missing in mid-May.

His mother, Michele Scott Duncan, confirmed to KING 5 that his body was recovered last Sunday, June 1, more than two weeks after he went missing.

Coone had gone fishing on his kayak on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 14, near Dungeness Bay. At around 4:30 p.m., he placed a 911 call to report that he was "in distress and possibly drowning," according to the Clallam County Sheriff's Office.

GPS coordinates placed Coone in the Strait of Juan de Fuca, north of Cline Spit. At the time Coone was fishing, a Small Craft Advisory was in effect, meaning high winds and big waves may have created hazardous conditions for small vessels.
