GRAND ISLAND, Neb. — A Grand Island woman faces charges after police said she hit a child, causing serious injuries, before fleeing the scene.

Jordan Miller, 30, is charged in Hall County Court with failure to stop and render aid following a serious personal injury crash and tampering with physical evidence.

According to Grand Island Police, just after 3 p.m. Tuesday, officers were called to the 1400 block of East Seventh Street in reference to a nine-year-old girl being hit by a vehicle while riding her scooter.

GIPD Division Chief Dean Elliott said the child sustained a broken wrist and broken lower arm and had multiple abrasions on her body from sliding on the pavement. He added the girl was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where she had multiple stitches in the forehead
