CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Former Page High baseball standout Jake Knapp was named as one of five finalists by the College Baseball Foundation for its 2025 Pitcher of the Year Award.

Knapp, who is now a graduate student at North Carolina, is 13-0 this season with 85 strikeouts and a team-best 1.98 ERA in 95.1 innings pitched. The Tar Heels earned one of the top national seeds in the NCAA Tournament and are set to face Arizona in a best-of-three series in the Super Regionals.

Last week, Knapp spoke with WFMY News 2 ahead of the Chapel Hill regional.

After having his freshman season at UNC-Wilmington wiped out by COVID in 2020, Knapp transferred to Walters State, where he earned third-team JUCO All-American after posting a 14-1 record and a 2.12 ERA in 17 starts.
