GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Dr. Jasmine Clark, a Gwinnett County state representative , launched a campaign for Congress on Monday morning that will see her mount a primary challenge against one of Georgia's longest-serving congressmen.

Rep. Dr. Clark is running for Georgia's 13th District seat, currently held by Democratic Rep. David Scott. Rep. Scott, who will turn 80 this month, has held the seat since 2003.

In a release announcing her campaign, Rep. Dr. Clark emphasized her science background — with a PhD in microbiology and molecular genetics from Emory — and said she was running for Congress to "be a fighter for Georgia families, science and reason."
