KALAMAZOO, MI — Kalamazoo County is getting a $406,563 payout for a climate control fix at the Judge Charles A. Pratt Justice Center.
On Tuesday, June 3, commissioners voted unanimously to amend an agreement with TowerPinkster and accept a $406,563 settlement.
Two of the units, which are used to control indoor air temperatures and ventilation, were installed in the wrong place during construction, said county spokesperson Taylor Koopman.
“The unit intended to supply larger ductwork was installed in the area where smaller ductwork was designed, and vice versa,” Koopman said.
This mismatch created an airflow imbalance that could have affected climate control in the building, she said.
