Organizers from the Arkansas chapters of Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action are hosting an event Saturday in Little Rock in honor of National Gun Violence Awareness Day.

Held from 2-4 p.m. at the Awareness Center (900 S. Pine St.), the event will include speeches from gun safety advocates like Whit Hall, Isabelle Elkins, LaKiesha Braggs and Wendell Griffen. Representatives from the Be SMART program will also be present to share information about the secure storage of firearms.

Under the banner of Wear Orange , a campaign founded in memory of 15-year-old shooting victim Hadiya Pendleton, more than 500 similar gatherings will take place across the country this weekend.
