STOREY COUNTY, Nev. (KOLO) - A Carson City man has been arrested on charges of fleeing police and striking a cement barrier.

Just before 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday, deputies with the Storey County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a suspected stolen truck at C Street and Mill Street in Virginia City.

Police say the truck, a white GMC diesel, sped off southbound on C Street at an estimated speed of 80 miles an hour.

The driver failed to slow for the curve, went into the oncoming travel lane and struck the cement barrier on Greiners Bend, sliding along the barrier over the roadway and hitting a rock wall head on.

Michael Menke of Carson City was taken into custody and arrested on charges of felony evading and possession of a stolen vehicle.
