The Pittsburgh Steelers are trying their best to calm the fan base as many of them took issue with players showing up to President Donald Trump’s speech at the U.S. Steel plant in Pennsylvania on Friday.

The presence of at least two current players and one high-profile former player at a rally staged by President Donald Trump last week irked the fan base.

QB Mason Rudolph, safety Miles Killebrew, and former Steelers RB Rocky Bleier attended the rally last Friday.

Several fans emailed the team expressing their anger at the gesture, which was not authorized directly by the team.

It prompted the organization to send an email explaining that former and current players “make their own individual decisions,” the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.
