Upon visiting the storm-damaged South Kentucky RECC building Monday morning, Sen. Rand Paul was reminded of his own community’s recent tornado devastation.

Paul’s home community of Bowling Green, Ky., saw two tornadoes hit early December 11, 2021, killing multiple people and causing widespread damage. It’s something Paul hasn’t forgotten — his house was within a mile or two of that tornado path, he noted — and the May 16 tornado that left a similar trail of destruction in Pulaski and Laurel Counties served for him as another reminder to take weather-related threats seriously.
