In January, Makaila Chenier, 17, found a lump in her neck.

“I thought it was a swollen lymph node,” Makaila, of Houston, tells TODAY.com. “It got progressively bigger and then I had trouble breathing when I would lay down.”

She visited her doctor before eventually ending up at the emergency room where she underwent a variety of tests. Soon, the doctors knew what caused the bump.
