STATEWIDE — Thanks to a new law pushed by state Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli, New Yorkers are seeing faster returns for some lost, unclaimed or forgotten money, such as uncashed checks or unused gift cards.
In January, his Office of Unclaimed Funds began mailing checks for newly reported accounts of $250 or less to eligible individuals. Moreover, staff members from the Comptroller’s office are attending community events and workshops across the state to provide information and assistance with the search process to further assist individuals in claiming their lost funds.
A NYC-area workshop will be hosted at a Brooklyn venue: St. Nick’s Alliance, 2 Kingsland Ave., 11211, from 2-4 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24.
