ORONO, Maine — Federal funding has been restored for Maine AgrAbility , a University of Maine program that assists the state's aging farmers, fishermen, and loggers in working more safely and effectively, the university announced on Wednesday.

The funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Institute of Food and Agriculture was unexpectedly paused on April 3. UMaine officials said they received no notice of the suspension, which halted access to the grant for two months.

The four-year, $551,520 federal award now has a remaining balance of $187,699, which will support program activities through August 2026, according to UMaine.
