AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The City of Amarillo has awarded a contract for the construction of nearly 1,000 new parking spaces in three area parks.
At the last Amarillo city council meeting, the council approved nearly $3.5 million worth of parking lot projects for three parks in Amarillo.
John Stiff Memorial Park North and South will be adding nearly 400 new parking spots at over $1.5 million.
The Rick Klein Athletic Complex will be adding 450 new spots at around $1.8 million.
City officials say many Amarillo parks were built in the 60’s and did not anticipate the growth of visitors at the parks.
