HAMPTON, N.H. —

Another Democratic candidate is jumping into the race to succeed U.S. Rep. Chris Pappas in the 1st Congressional District.

Carleigh Beriont is aiming to give voice to progressive outrage as she launches her campaign, highlighting her growing frustration as a parent wanting a better life for her children.

"A lot of mornings, I wake up angry," Beriont said. "I wake up angry that we don't have paid parental leave, that we don't have Medicare for all. I wake up angry about the way that corporate polluters are treating our planet."

If elected, the Hampton Democrat said a top priority will be capping child care costs at 7% of income, a policy she said would give immediate relief to working families.
