ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) -- The Wisner Market in downtown Elmira launched its first day of the season and was held on a Wednesday for the first time in more than 25 years.

The market schedule was moved from Thursday to Wednesday to allow more vendors to be featured at both Wisner and the Corning Farmers Markets. A couple of first-time vendors at the Wisner Market expressed how the change could allow more foot traffic and believe it will benefit both markets' opportunities to attract visitors.

"I do like it having it on Wednesday because it gives us an opportunity and more people can come in down in Elmira," said Leon Jones. "It's a great day and it helps us to get together on Wednesday when we don't have to worry about Thursday."
