TEXARKANA, Texas (KSLA) - Following the arrest of an ArkLaTex police officer accused of the sexual assault of a child, one department program is paused and under further review.
“We’ve made the decision to pause the Explorer post activity right now,” Texarkana Texas Police Department spokesman Shawn Vaughn said.
Vaughn said the future of the department’s Explorer Program is uncertain following the arrest of a Texarkana officer.
On June 2, officer Zackary Gilley, 32, was arrested for sexual assault of a child. KSLA is now learning what allegedly happened in this case. According to court records, the 15-year-old victim was in the police department’s explorer program, a program for teens interested in becoming a police officer.
