LOCKWOOD, Mont. – The Lockwood Fire Department has launched Montana's first Safe Haven Baby Box. This initiative offers parents in distress a safe, anonymous way to surrender their babies into the hands of emergency personnel.
Safe Haven Baby Boxes , found across the U.S., are designed to provide a secure space for parents facing a crisis. Monica Kelsey, founder of Safe Haven Baby Boxes, shared the motivation behind the program, stating, "When Lockwood contacted us, they wanted to be the front runner in this movement in Montana to make sure that no baby dies in their community ever."
Kelsey emphasized the proactive stance of Lockwood, saying, "It's just a testament of the people of Montana, you know, saying that we're not going to sit back and wait for something bad to happen."
