SACRAMENTO, Calif. - A Palm Desert woman was sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for her role in a dark web fentanyl distribution scheme.
Acting U.S. Attorney Michele Beckwith announced the sentencing, which was handed down by Senior U.S. District Judge John A. Mendez.
According to the United States Department of Justice, 35-year-old Holly Adams and her partner, Devlin Hosner, sold counterfeit oxycodone pills containing fentanyl on the dark web.
The operation generated hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Adams and Hosner laundered the proceeds through cryptocurrency mixers and wallets. In September 2021, state law enforcement executed a search warrant at their residence, where Adams attempted to destroy evidence.
