PORTAGE, Pa. – More than a decade ago, the pool at Crichton McCormick Park in Portage was in danger of closing – but there was no sign of that potential Wednesday as dozens of Portage Area School District students filtered in to officially kick off summer at the pool.
The last day of the school year marked free admission for students in kindergarten through sixth grade to celebrate the occasion, and the continuation of a cooperative program between the district and the Portage Area Recreational and Park Commission that provides free passes to hundreds of youths per year. ×
