MERRITT ISLAND, Fla. (WFLA) — Two construction workers were killed when a crane collapsed in Florida on Wednesday.

Health First told NBC affiliate WESH that the collapse happened at their construction site on Borman Drive.

Officials said the collapse was due to a "serious weather-related incident at the Cape Canaveral Hospital Construction site."

The National Weather Service said there were reports of wind gusts around 50 miles per hour at the time of the collapse.

The Brevard County Sheriff's Office and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating the incident.

Gilbane, the construction management company on the project, said the workers were employed by Baker Concrete and another trade contractor.
