CHARLESTON, W.Va (WCHS) — Robert Holland said the kindness of neighbors has saved many from further stress during their commute as work continues to replace the bridge along Woodward Drive in Charleston.
"If it wouldn't have been for the good graces of this guy right here at this house to let us go through his yard and across the bridge," said Holland, Woodward Drive resident. "It would take us 15 to 30 minutes out of the way."
When the bridge originally closed in April some residents said they were being charged to use a neighbors private bridge just to connect back to the main road but has since stopped charging.
"It was kind of funny and sad because everybody out here needed a way to get back out and they're trying to charge $2 in $2 out," Holland said. "$20 a week, I mean it was re
