HOUSTON — After defeating Dripping Springs in the state semifinals, Kingwood is headed to the 6A Division II state championship game for the first time in two decades.
The Mustangs will face defending state champions Tomball in an all-Houston-area showdown Saturday in Round Rock.
The program is aiming for its second-ever state title and its first since 2005.
Kingwood’s mentality all season has been simple.
"Kingwood versus everyone because even at the beginning of the year, no one really believed we had a chance to make it this far," first baseman Braden Fuentes said. "Now look at us. It's just us against everyone really."
