FARGO — Kansas City pitchers shut down Fargo-Moorhead over the final four innings and the Monarchs escaped with a 3-2 win on Wednesday before 3,810 at Newman Outdoor Field.

The Monarchs led 3-0 through 4-1/2 innings. The RedHawks made it a one-run game on Peter Brookshaw's two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth.

But F-M couldn't cobble together the equalizer. KC starter Jackson Goddard allowed two runs on four hits in six innings. He didn't issue a walk and struck out seven. Relievers Jake Brentz, Blake Goldsberry and Tyler McKay combined to two-hit the RedHawks over three innings.

RedHawks starter Greg Minier took the loss. He allowed three runs on eight hits in seven innings, walking two and striking out six.
