SANDY, Utah (ABC4) -- The Wallace family never thought that a floor repair after a dishwater leak would lead to living in a hotel for the last five months.

Mark and Melissa Wallace tell ABC4 that ServiceMaster of Salt Lake City were called to their home to repair their floor after a leak from their dishwasher, but when the workers tore up the floor, it revealed vinyl underneath the tile and a hidden disaster.

Melissa explained, "They should have stopped and tested it. But instead, they tore up the floor to be done for the day. Left debris, didn't fully contain the area and then turned on fans for a week and blew all the dust around."

That dust tested positive to being asbestos and now it has spread all over their house, in their HVAC system, and garage. Their home of 24 years now comple
