The Mets lost a close game in extras last night after winning a very similar game the night before. That kind of a loss can sometimes demoralize a team and slow them down. The opposite happened for the Mets, who came out swinging and took the third game of the series against the Dodgers , taking it 6-1.
Griffin Canning was exceptional for the Mets this evening. Over six innings, he allowed three hits and one walk against seven strikeouts. He looked completely in control, keeping batters off balance. All three hits against him were singles, including one by Shohei Ohtani, and there were never two runners on base in the same inning for Canning. Looks like my bold prediction may be coming true after all.
The Mets’ offense got to Tony Gonsolin early. Francisco Lindor got the game start
