COLUMBIA — A growing chorus of voices in the Democrats' S.C. House Caucus is calling for a change in leadership after a disappointing legislative session left the minority party struggling to produce a coherent case against the Republican majority.
In interviews with The Post and Courier ahead of last weekend’s state Democratic Convention, several House lawmakers say their longtime minority leader — Columbia Rep. Todd Rutherford — failed to build a credible opposition strategy against Republicans over the past several years.
Some criticized Rutherford of being too friendly with Republican leadership and too willing to negotiate and reluctant to oppose them.
Others, like fellow Columbia Democrat Heather Bauer, say they felt unsupported in their push to bring articles of impeachment again
