CALEXICO — The City of Calexico has $120 million it has received since 2018 from grants for city projects, but that money has been unused.

Calexico Interim Manager Rick Daniels wants to change that pretty quickly.

Part of the problem is Calexico has no city engineer or anyone to build or oversee the necessities for buildings, like water and sewer lines.

The city has identified 60 projects it would like to see come to fruition, but they have no one with the necessary skills to move forward.

To help resolve these problems Daniels appointed a Human Resources director, is interviewing for a fire chief, a public works director to manage the 60 projects, an additional grant writer, a chief mechanic and a parks employee.
