The U.S. Marshals Service has apprehended a 31-year-old Dominican man linked to a horrific quadruple homicide in New York, which included the tragic deaths of two young children, ages 2 and 4. The suspect, Luis Francisco Soriano, also known as Jefry Yevo, was wanted by the Irondequoit Police Department on multiple charges, including four counts of second-degree murder and drug-related offenses.
The violent incident occurred on August 31, 2024, near Rochester, New York. Following the crime, Soriano was placed on the U.S. Marshals Service District of Puerto Rico’s Top 10 Most Wanted fugitives list in September 2024.
According to officials, investigations revealed that Soriano fled to the Dominican Republic by boat after learning that federal marshals were searching for him. He was located working at a hotel in Punta Cana. U.S. Marshals stationed in Santo Domingo, in collaboration with Dominican authorities, arrested him without incident after he finished his shift at the hotel’s call center.
Wilmer Ocasio-Ibarra, U.S. Marshal for the District of Puerto Rico, praised the efforts of the U.S. Marshals Service, stating, "Without a doubt, this is an exceptional job by the Deputy U.S. Marshals of the U.S. Marshals Service, both nationally and internationally. It is truly worthy of recognition, and our communities should feel reassured knowing that this fugitive has been captured and will face justice."
Ocasio-Ibarra emphasized the impact of the crime, saying, "Every case is important to us, but this one not only deeply impacted our communities in New York and Puerto Rico, it shook our entire nation. The horrific nature of this crime, which resulted in the tragic death of a family, including two innocent children, rocked the very foundation of our society governed by law and order."
Soriano is currently in the custody of Dominican authorities as he awaits extradition proceedings. The U.S. Marshals Service acknowledged the collaborative efforts of various units involved in the case, including the Office of International Operations and the New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force. They also expressed gratitude to the public for providing crucial information that led to Soriano's capture.
