Many fans are high on the Michigan football program heading into the 2025 season, and understandably so thanks to the combination of on-field and recruiting success to round out 2024. Offseason rankings have been viewing the Wolverines favorably as well, with ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) being the latest.
In its latest edition of the FPI , ESPN had Michigan ranked as the No. 17 team in the country. It’s a couple pegs down from where ESPN’s SP+ had Michigan , but still a good spot nonetheless considering what its record was a year ago. The FPI gives Michigan a rating of 14.6, which is the same as Oklahoma, which the Wolverines will face in Week 2 in Norman.
Michigan’s rating puts it as the fourth-highest-ranked team in the Big Ten heading into the season. The FPI has Ohio State
