Oxford – A Starkville man is facing more than six years for illegal gun possession and drug trafficking.

Michael Anthony Doss, of Starkville, pleaded guilty in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District to Mississippi to being a felon in possession of a firearm and trafficking methamphetamine, according to court documents. Doss was sentenced on Wednesday to 78 months in prison by U.S. District Court Judge Debra M. Brown for the charges.

Doss was also given three years supervised release once he is released.

“Drug dealers and guns are a lethal combination, and I am extremely proud of the work done by our state and local partners and ATF to bring this defendant to justice and protect our communities,” said U.S. Attorney Clay Joyner in a release Wednesday.
