The red-and-gold jeweled crown that long lorded over the marquee of the Crown Theatre in downtown Crown Point vanished from the public eye years ago.

After gathering dust for years, the landmark of Crown Point's historic downtown square was recently found and plucked from a warehouse by the retired owner of Crown Point Auto Repair and Restoration who is friends with one of the hosts of "American Pickers."

Now it will again return to the public eye.

Crown Antique Mall acquired the 5-foot-tall fiberglass crown resting on a red globe and will publicly display it. The antique mall, 545 E. 110th Ave. in Crown Point, has been amassing a growing display of Crown Point memorabilia that includes a John Dillinger exhibit.
