LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — It's a big week for high school sports in the bluegrass. The KHSAA baseball and softball state tournaments start today.

All week, we've been highlighting some local teams that are looking to hoist a state title trophy, with 16 teams fighting it out over the next three days.

FOX 56 spoke to the Harrison County baseball team, who are preparing to take on Wolfe County Thursday night at Kentucky Proud Park. The Thorobreds took down Montgomery County 5-4 in a nail-biter last week in the 10th region championship game.

Since then, it has been a busy week of practice for the Thorobreds, who also hosted a summer baseball camp for kids. Head coach Mac Whitaker said it's a great way to connect to the community and keep his team from lying around while on summer break.
