CONWAY, S.C. (WBTW) -- Coastal Carolina University has chosen its fourth president, the school announced Thursday morning on social media.

James J. Winebrake will begin his new job on July 7, the university said. He replaces Michael T. Benson, who was previously named the 27th president of West Virginia University. Winebrake’s appointment is the result of a nationwide search that began in February.

"With his bold vision and extensive experience in higher education leadership, we will continue to extend our reach and amplify our impact regionally and beyond," the university said.
