Although the Kansas City area will likely stay dry on Thursday, spotty afternoon showers cannot be ruled out, according to the National Weather Service.

Skies will be mostly cloudy, keeping the weather on the cool side. Temperatures in the metro area are expected to climb to around 75 degrees. Kansas City typically sees temperatures around 82 degrees this time of year.

More widespread storms are expected to push into the area after midnight, with the storm system tracking east across southern Kansas into southern Missouri, the weather service said.

“Given the anticipated track, the best chances for storms will be the southern half of the forecast area, mainly along and south of the Missouri River,” the weather service said.
