Congressman John Rose (R-TN) was hit with a Community Note on Wednesday after criticizing “Washington’s wasteful spending” in the wake of Elon Musk’s attacks on the Trump-backed “Big Beautiful Bill Act.”

Rose tweeted: “77 million Americans voted for DOGE cuts NOT Washington's wasteful spending,” referencing the Department of Government Efficiency once led by Musk.

However, Twitter users quickly added context as Rose himself voted yes on the very bill he was condemning. The Community Note pointed out that the legislation passed by just a single vote — 215–214 — and had Rose voted no, it may not have passed at all. Rose is also a member of the House Financial Services Committee.
