BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - While the Trump administration is confident their tariff policies will benefit American agriculture, many in the industry are anxiously awaiting the outcome.

“Every country in the world tries to protect their agriculture sector. Why? Because food is life, and if you don’t have food, you’re not going to live for very long. So no elected official was going to fare very well if we ran out of food on their watch,” Extension Economist, Dr. Joe Outlaw explained.

Outlaw says President Donald Trump’s tariffs have been implemented in an effort to protect the United States agriculture sector by leveling the playing field.
