EVANSDALE, Iowa — Jack Rodden, a fifth grader at Poyner Elementary School, has been honored as the AAA School Safety Patroller of the Year for Iowa.

Rodden serves as the AAA School Safety Patrol Captain at Poyner, ensuring all safety posts are staffed each morning. If a student is absent, he steps in to cover the post himself. In addition to his patrol duties, Rodden acts as a school ambassador, assisting during parent-teacher conferences and helping with events like Family Night and BINGO night.

"Jack has been a leader in helping students," said patrol advisor Sally Goodenbour.
