A new report from the Congressional Budget Office has reignited fierce debate in Washington over President Donald Trump’s sweeping tax and spending proposal that passed the House, named the “One Big Beautiful Bill.”

At the heart of the controversy: health care coverage, tax breaks, and a mounting national debt.
According to the CBO, the plan could strip health insurance from nearly 11 million Americans, including 1.4 million undocumented immigrants, largely due to new work requirements for public benefits. It also projects that the bill would add $2.4 trillion to the national debt over the next decade.
“Death by 1,000 paper cuts. That’s the intention of the Republican bill,” said Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-NY.
The legislation
