Attempted child abduction reported in Greenup, Ky., police say

GREENUP, Ky. (WCHS) — Police are investigating after an alleged attempted child abduction in Greenup, Kentucky.

A mother told investigators a vehicle approached two of her children in the 1700 block of East Main Street about 7:45 p.m. Sunday and the driver allegedly yelled for the children to get into their vehicle, according to the Greenup Police Department.

When officers arrived, they said they could not find the vehicle, but it was described as being a maroon Chevy SUV – possibly and Equinox – with dark-tinted windows. The mother told officers the vehicle sped off when she approached it to see what was going on.

Anyone that has information or sees a suspicious vehicle that matches the description is asked to call 911.

The incident remains under investigation by the Greenup Police D
