Leaders at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church & School went to their congregation a few years ago with an ambitious plan and request.

Land next to the South Tampa church’s campus was available. Would congregants consider donating for a new building to house the church’s middle school?

“Because of the growth in the church, because of the growth in the school, we needed more space to do the work that we’re doing,” said Holy Trinity Pastor Dan Prugh.

The congregation of about 330 stepped up, and more than $760,000 poured in for the building that would rise on the corner of South Dale Mabry Highway and West El Prado Boulevard.
