Morten Harket, the lead singer of the Norwegian band and '80s mainstay a-ha, has shared that he has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.
Harket, 65, best known for the band's classic 1985 single "Take On Me," revealed in an interview on a-ha's website published on June 4 that he has the neurodegenerative condition , which includes symptoms like involuntary muscle contractions, pain in the joints and uncontrolled movements, according to Mayo Clinic .
“I’ve got no problem accepting the diagnosis," he told the band's biographer, Jan Omdahl, in the interview. "With time I’ve taken to heart my 94-year-old father’s attitude to the way the organism gradually surrenders: 'I use whatever works.'"
Harket did not say when he was diagnosed.
