8 ON YOUR SIDE CONSUMER ALERT: Ford is recalling more than 550,000 vehicles because of airbag and structural issues that could increase the risk of a crash or injury.
One recall covers more than 63,000 2025 Ford Maverick pickup trucks that may have an airbag indicator light that can become loose or dislodged. People in the vehicle may not know if the passenger airbag is on or off — increasing risk of injury.
The second recall is for 492,000 2016 and 2017 Ford Explorer SUVs. The issue is for driver and front passenger exterior B-pillar door trim that may detach while driving. The trim is between the front and backseat windows.
A piece that comes loose and flies off can become a debris hazard in the road for other vehicles to hit.
