BECKLEY, W.Va. (WCHS) — A melee that followed a high school graduation in southern West Virginia has resulted in charges for multiple attendees, police said.

A dispute between several parties escalated into a physical fight after Saturday’s commencement ceremonies for Woodrow Wilson High School, according to a news release from the Beckley Police Department.

The news release said a gun was recovered, but investigators determined the firearm was not drawn during the incident.

A warrant has been issued for 19-year-old Jalen Marquis Cook for possession of a deadly weapon on the premises of a school-sponsored function, according to the news release.

Police said several additional misdemeanor warrants have been issued for battery:
