ESCANABA — This year’s Summer Reading Program kick-off event takes place on Wednesday, June 11 with the Friends of the Escanaba Public Library’s annual Ice Cream Social on the north lawn of the library at 6 p.m., with entertainment by the Escanaba City Band. There will also be a used book sale from 4-6 p.m. in the city hall foyer.

Registration for this year’s program begins on Monday, June 16 at the library with opportunities for children of all ages to participate. Reading logs and welcome bags can be picked up at this time.

Special programs include: Clay Color Mixing & Sculpture for Grades K-5 on Friday, June 20 at 1:00 p.m. (registration required); puppeteer Keith Kammeraad on Tuesday, July 15 at 1:00 p.m. (all ages); Printmaking for Teens & Tweens for Grades 6-12 on Wednesday, July 2
